What is an Electromagnetic Flow Meter?
An electromagnetic flow meter (mag meter) measures the flow rate of conductive liquids using Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction. When a conductive fluid flows through a magnetic field, it generates a voltage proportional to the flow velocity, which the meter converts into a flow measurement.
Key Features of MAG7000 Flow Meter
- Non-intrusive measurement – No moving parts, reducing maintenance.
- High accuracy – Typically ±0.5% of flow rate.
- Suitable for various liquids – Works with water, slurries, acids, bases, and beverages.
- Bidirectional measurement – Can measure flow in both directions.
- Wide pipe sizes – Available from small to very large pipelines.
Selection of installation site
The measuring tube must be fully filled with medium at all times – electromagnetic flowmeters cannot operate normally when the tube is not full or empty.
1) Select a straight pipe section filled with liquid, such as a vertical section of the pipeline (the flow direction is preferably from bottom to top) or a horizontal pipe filled with liquid (the lowest point of the entire pipeline is the Xuan). During the installation and measurement process, non-full pipe conditions must not occur.
2) The measurement position should be selected at a location greater than 5D upstream of the flowmeter and a straight pipe section of 3D downstream.
3) The measurement points should be selected as far away as possible from pumps, valves and other equipment to avoid their interference with the measurement.
4) The measurement points should be selected as far away as possible from large radio frequency, strong magnetic fields, strong vibration interference sources, etc.
