How Does a Coriolis Flow Meter Work?
A Coriolis mass flow meter measures mass flow based on the principle of inertia. As liquid or gas passes through a vibrating tube driven by a small actuator, the movement of the fluid generates a Coriolis force inside the tube.
This force creates a measurable twisting motion, causing a phase shift between different sections of the vibrating tube. The degree of this phase shift is directly proportional to the mass flow rate of the fluid.
By detecting the resulting angular momentum and phase difference, the flow meter accurately calculates the mass flow rate. Coriolis flow meters are capable of measuring both forward and reverse flow within the pipeline with high precision.
